Good Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in a Balance bookkeeping plan?

Every plan includes transaction categorization, bank and credit card reconciliation, receipt management through Hubdoc, tax-ready financial statements, and unlimited phone calls, emails, meetings, and pep talks. Higher tiers add accrual accounting, class and job tracking, monthly reviews, and financial dashboards.

Cash basis or accrual: which do I need?

Most small service businesses run clean on cash basis, which the Solo and Core plans cover. If you carry inventory, invoice ahead of payment, track jobs, or answer to investors, accrual (Growth and Scale plans) gives you the true picture. Pam helps you pick during the free consultation, and you can switch tiers as you grow.

How do you count transactions for pricing?

A transaction is any line that hits your books: a sale, a bill, a transfer, a payout. Solo covers under 30 per month, Core up to 100, Growth up to 250, and Scale is unlimited. Balance counts your real volume during consultation so you start on the right tier, not the most expensive one.

Can you take over from my current bookkeeper or DIY spreadsheet?

Yes. Migration from spreadsheets, a previous bookkeeper, or desktop software is a one-time ledger cleanup project, typically $1500, and then your monthly plan takes over. Your historical data comes along properly organized.

Will my books be ready for tax season?

That is the whole point. Every tier ships tax-ready deliverables your tax preparer can use directly, and Balance coordinates with them so year-end is a handoff, not a scramble.
