Five people, one flat rate, zero stage fright about your shoebox of receipts. This is the team that keeps the numbers balanced while you run the show.

Balance, PLLC is a Woodbury, Minnesota accounting team led by Pam Van Muijen, an accounting professional with over 20 years of experience from bookkeeping through CFO-level roles, supported by a controller who is a CPA, plus dedicated specialists in bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable, HR, and receipt management.

Pam Van Muijen

CEO & Principal

Pam is an accounting professional with over 20 years of experience in the accounting industry, playing active, impactful roles for a variety of companies in positions ranging from basic bookkeeping to CFO level. She is equipped and ready to jump in at any stage to help make your business the thing it was meant to be.

Based in Woodbury, Minnesota, Pam proudly serves St. Paul, Minneapolis, and the greater Twin Cities metro. She loves visiting clients on site and getting a feel for their place of work in person, and thanks to the internet, she is available for out-of-state clients as well.

In case you have not noticed, Pam is a geek. It is kind of her thing. That is why Balance specializes in working with the arts and geek communities. Whether you are a comic book store, a tattoo parlor, a circus, or just really, really into Star Wars, you will get each other.

Jemmalyn (Jem)

Controller

Jem is a Certified Public Accountant (Philippines) with over seven years of experience in full-cycle accounting, including bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable and payable, journal entries, and financial reporting. She specializes in U.S.-based accounts and is proficient in QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and Xero.

Off the clock, Jem travels with family and friends to discover new places and cultures, plays Call of Duty, and spends time with her furry friends.

Samantha (Sam)

Bookkeeper, AP & HR

Samantha is a bookkeeper who thrives on organization and numbers, with a special love for payables and keeping the books up to date. There is just something satisfying about everything balancing out and running smoothly, and she makes sure the details are always right.

At home she bakes, embroiders, cheers on her kids at their sports, and holds a soft spot for Azul, Catan, Sushi Go, and a good round of Mario Kart. Coffee is definitely her fuel.

Kathy

Payroll

Kathy started her career as an elementary educator before joining the accounting field after earning her associate degree. She brings experience in taxes, accounts receivable and payable, and payroll across SAGE, QuickBooks, Dynamics GP, Xero, and Gusto.

Away from work she plays Bananagrams, cribbage, Catan, and Ticket to Ride with her daughters. She does not always win, but the joy is in the playing.

Joan

Receipt Management

Joan has over 15 years of experience in receipt management for Balance clients, making sure everything is entered correctly across Xero and Hubdoc.

When not working she visits her daughters and grandkids, travels, sews, reads, plays World of Warcraft weekly, and often wishes she were sitting on a lake with her terrier, Sweeney.
